DID YOU KNOW?:  When a defendant waives their right to a fast and speedy trial they are almost guaranteeing a conviction (usually at the behest of their court appointed attorney)?  This is because court jurisdictions are over loaded, over indict, over police and or over charge individuals for both traffic citations and law violations.  As a result courts such as Ashland need as much time as possible in order to even have a chance to prosecute or try a case.  If an inmate refused to waive their right to a fast and speedy trial it would result in their almost guaranteed freedom as their trial date would be set with as many as 7 others falling on the same day, even if they were guilty of said charge (the courts would have to choose the most severe instead).  Goes to show you how these common criminals and their ways of thinking aren’t so smart after all…
